Transvaginal ultrasound
- involves inserting a specialized probe into the vagina to examine the pelvic organs, aiding in evaluating reproductive health and detecting issues like ovarian cysts or pregnancy complications.
Pelvic ultrasound
- provides a comprehensive view of the pelvic region, assisting in diagnosing conditions related to the bladder, uterus, and prostate.
Transrectal ultrasound
- used to evaluate the prostate gland in males, aiding in the detection of prostate cancer or other prostate-related concerns.
Abdominal Preparation:
- Fat free dinner the night before the examination and no food/drink after midnight
- No dairy products or fried foods
- No smoking or chewing gum
- No carbonated drinks 12 hours prior to the examination
Pelvis or Prostate Preparation:
- Drink 4 glasses (1 Litre) of clear fluid (water, juice, black coffee/tea)
- Finish drinking 1 hour prior to the examination
- DO NOT VOID, a full bladder is necessary for the examination
- Please eat breakfast and lunch
